The ΟγΈΫΑωΊΟ²ΚΙϊΠ€ΊΕΒλ St. Claude Gallery in New Orleans presents βSo To Speak,β the MFA thesis exhibition of H. Grace Boyle that opens May 14.
In unexpected ways, Boyle transforms marble, found objects and other materials into quiet, multi-layered assemblages. Spanning the doleful to the comic, these enigmatic sculptures explore the passage of time, both presence and absence, and the potential to find humor even in the darkest moments. This suite of works fosters a sense of curiosity and coaxes viewers to lose themselves in a world of wonder.
The exhibition is free and will be open to the public at 2429 St. Claude Ave. through June 4, with an opening reception Saturday, May 13, from 6 to 9 p.m.
Gallery hours are Saturdays and Sundays, noon to 5 p.m. Viewing the exhibition by appointment outside of normal gallery hours is welcome. Please contact the artist at: grace@hgraceboyle.com.

Born, raised and educated in New Orleans, Boyleβs preferred method of creating is sculpting, with her favored material being marble. She currently teaches beginning and intermediate sculpture at the ΟγΈΫΑωΊΟ²ΚΙϊΠ€ΊΕΒλ. In 2021, she was awarded the New Roads Scholarship from the Carving Studio and Sculpture Center in Vermont. She has shown work at The Front, Good Children Gallery and the Contemporary Arts Center in New Orleans. She has participated in ArtPrize and ArtFields competitions. Boyle has created three public sculptures, which are located in Kenner, Louisiana.
